Training Under 7’s, 8’s, 9’s, 10’s, 11’s, 12’s, 13’s, 15’s & 17’s Season runs from early September to April / May ( depending on competitions )

Training is on Saturday morning, 10.30 am sharp to 12.00 pm at the Rugby Club except when teams are playing a game away from home. Some teams may train during the week and if so will be organised by individual coaches.

Details of matches will be given in advance by team coaches. If in doubt contact your team coach directly. From time to time arrangements may be changed at short notice due to circumstances outside the clubs control. To facilitate your child’s coach in contacting you we would appreciate if you could fill out the “player information form” and have your child return it together with their subscription for the year as soon as possible at the beginning of each season

Gum shields are compulsory and obtainable from the local sports shops. Players personal clothing – tracksuits, tops etc should be marked clearly with players name. The club provides Jerseys for matches. Players are expected to tog out in club colours ( white shorts and navy socks ) for all matches

The Youth Subscription for the year is €60 per player with a maximum of €75 per family This subscription must be paid in September to ensure registration and also for insurance purposes. Youths are eligible to join up throughout the season. Contact team coaches for Player information and registration forms.

Any player not previously registered must provide two passport photos, a copy of their birth certificate and a registration form ( available from the team coaches ). Players not registered are ineligible to play for the club.

For away matches players need to provide €5 to help defray the cost of the bus which has increased significantly in latter years.

We hope the above clarifies the common issues that arise each year. However if you wish to discuss any issue do not hesitate to contact your child’s coach or ourselves.

We trust that your child has an enjoyable season and benefits from their involvement with Portlaoise Rugby Club.
